Xbox complains about a firewall blocking connections

If you're having the Xbox 360 complaining about firewall, try these different options before contacting support:

  • Make sure you have the latest dashboard update.
  • Go to Network Settings and disconnect/reconnect to your wireless network.
  • Test your network connection for issues (Settings -> System Settings -> Network Settings -> Select your network -> Test Xbox live connection)
  • Try connecting with ethernet (wired network) directly (Settings -> System Settings -> Network Settings -> Wired Network)
  • Try creating a Wireless Hotspot on your Apple Device and select this wireless network on your xbox.
